오, 나여! 오, 삶이여!

Of the endless trains of the faithless
믿음 없는 자들의 끊임 없는 행렬에 대해

Of cities fill`d with the foolish
어리석은 자들로 가득찬 도시에 대해

Of myself forever reproaching myself,
나 자신을 영원히 자책하는 나에 대해

for who more foolish than i, and who more faithless?
나보다 더 어리석고, 믿음 없는 사람은 누구인가?

Of eyes that vainly crave the light
헛되이 빛을 갈망하는 눈들에 대해

 Of the objects mean
사물이 의미하는 것들에 대해

Of the struggle ever renew`d,
언제나 다시 시작되는 투쟁에 대해

Of the poor results of all
형편 없는 모든 결말들에 대해

Of the plodding and sordid crowds i see around me,
발을 끌며 걷는 내 주위의 추한 군중에 대해

Of the empty and useless years of the rest
공허하고 쓸모없는 남은 생에 대해

with the rest me intertwined,
나를 얽매는 그 남은 시간에 대해

The question, O me ! ,so sad, recurring-
오, 나여! 반복되는 너무나도 슬픈 질문..

 What good amid these,
이것들 속에서 어떤 의미를 찾을 수 있는가?

O me, O life..
오 나여, 오 삶이여!

답은 이것

That you are here
네가 여기 있다는 것

 that life exists and identity,
삶이 존재하고 자신이 존재한다는 것

That the powerful play gose on,
화려한 연극은 계속 되고

and you may contribute a verse.
너 또한 한편의 시가 된다는 것
